"The History of Surfing" is an incredible book, a monumentally-sweeping history and tribute to the sport and the people who invented and perpetuated it. This gargantuan tome is staggering in its scope, spanning hundreds of years of history and a slew of locales around the globe. The book is loaded with vintage photographs, magazine covers and profiles of legendary surfers. A must-have for anyone who loves surfing, the ocean, or, water sports, in general.

Matt Warshaw is the former editor of SURFER magazine. A lifelong surfer, he is the author of numerous books on surfing, including Maverick's: The Story of Big Wave Surfing. He lives in San Francisco with his wife and son.
