In the quaint Oregon village of Maidenwell, Gina Biletti’s life takes an unexpected turn when human bones are unearthed at a construction site. This chilling discovery resurrects old stories about the Yeechee cult, which had occupied the village during the late 1980s. The cult was not only tied to some still-unsolved crimes but was also rumored to be on the hunt for a fabled Gold Rush-era treasure.
Charged by her secretive boss Matthias Loneskum with unearthing the truth about the bones before the media starts sniffing around, Gina once again finds herself thrust into the role of amateur sleuth.
Yet, as she digs deeper, it’s clear that the treasure the Yeechee were after is more than mere legend—and that someone is willing to kill for it. Can Gina solve the mystery before the whispers of the past demand her silence—permanently?
Get ready for a suspenseful, fast-paced journey filled with humor, heart, and more twists and turns than Gina’s well-used wine corkscrew.
Hello,
B.G. Wood here.
If you’re into sleepy English style villages with a side of mystery, you’re in the right place.
As a kid, I was glued to the TV watching Columbo reruns with my mom—I guess you could say my love for mysteries started young and never let up. My dad introduced me to the charm of quaint English villages like Burton-on-Water in the Cotswolds and I’ve been hooked ever since. Maybe that’s why my protagonist, Gina Biletti, finds herself navigating murder and mayhem in a similar setting.
Just like Gina, I’m a New York suburbanite who flew the coop for the West Coast. These days, you’ll find me in the high desert of Central Oregon (just a few hours drive from the fictional Maidenwell) where I’m no stranger to the odd alpaca, fox, or magpie (in addition to a couple of very demanding rescue dogs: chow chow and Husky mix if you must know!)
Now, here’s where it gets a little weird: When I’m not spinning mysteries, I’m diving into 19th century history or exploring high tech futures. An author’s got to stretch themselves, right?
