I get that it's supposed to be a modern day characterization of Nero fiddling while Rome burned. I get that it's supposed to be satire, but it all just fell flat. I loathed almost every character in this book, and at best I just didn't care about any of them or what happened to them. The satire of the over the top rich people would have worked if the working class people hadn't also been portrayed in the worst light possible.
