About this ebook

An Instant National Bestseller!

Once a black ops assassin known as Orphan X, Evan Smoak broke with the program and went deep underground, using his operational rules and skills to help the truly desperate with nowhere else to turn.

A young woman is kidnapped off the New York City subway, clearly in danger and in need of aid. Evan is determined to help but with no name and few clues, his first challenge is to track her down.
Once he does, Evan offers his help―and sets out finding the young men responsible. But the woman insists that Evan abandon his usual methods―no vengeance and, in particular, no killing. Given the mounting incoming threats from all sides, this will prove to be Evan’s most dangerous mission yet, one that will test the limits of his skills and abilities.

Racing from coast to coast, from the poorest corners of society to the richest, Orphan X must figure out a way to protect the innocent, avenge the victimized, and balance justice with a measure of mercy.

ANTIHERO - After three different tries and then a final skimming to get through this "book", I still could not get past the choppy writing style, flash cards? Of course, the vulgar titles and other garbage didn't set well with me either. hollywood stank throughout this "book". Well, somebody else likes it since this is number 11. Maybe if I had read the first book, naw, scratch that, it ain't happenin'. Source: Netgalley and St. Martin's Press. 1*

Was this written by the same author of the other Orphan X books? I've read them all, enjoyed them all but this reads like it was put through AI and it vomited out a word salad. I'm fine with the plot, it was the extravagant, over-the-top wording like a runaway thesaurus. Not a fan.

As a longtime fan of the Orphan X series, Antihero was the toughest to read because of the subject matter. Hurwitz's writing is outstanding as usual; he's easily one of the best thriller/action writers and he doesn't fail to impress with this book. This time, Hurwitz uses disconcerting shifts in writing style to capture the different mindsets of his characters, and it makes for less easy reading; however, this is by no means a criticism. The Orphan X series is based on the ludicrous but entertaining premise of an indomitable vigilante living in a fortressed apartment. Despite this, Hurwitz' writing flows beautifully with descriptive imagery that takes you right into each scene. What I find exceptional in this series is the sometimes surprisingly profound dialogues sprinkled throughout. I've re-read most of his books but probably not this particular one because it involves the brutal world of pornographic websites. Otherwise, I highly recommend this book!
