Pirate Investigator

A TYPO. A TREASURE HUNT. A $250,000 PIRATE HEIST. AND A FLORIDA PRIVATE EYE WHO JUST GOT WAY TOO CLOSE TO THE TRUTH.

When Danny "Gumbo" Malone orders a new batch of business cards, he expects one thing.

Business cards.

Instead, the printer gives him a new job title:

PIRATE INVESTIGATOR.

Normally, Gumbo would throw the cards away.

But Gumbo is broke.

So when an eccentric historian claiming to be a descendant of pirate Jean Lafitte walks into his office offering Spanish doubloons to investigate a legendary shipwreck, Gumbo decides maybe the typo isn't such a bad thing after all.

Then the Cedar Key Heritage Festival gets robbed.

By pirates.

Real criminals wearing ridiculously convincing pirate costumes.

They release clouds of red smoke, steal a quarter-million dollars, and escape across the Gulf on pirate-themed jet skis while an enormous alligator gives chase.

And suddenly Gumbo has two cases.

One involves recovering stolen festival money.

The other involves a supposedly lost Spanish treasure ship, a suspicious "privateering charter" from landlocked Liechtenstein, and a fortune in gold supposedly buried somewhere in the Florida wetlands.

Then they find a human finger bone.

And everything changes.

What looked like a ridiculous treasure hunt becomes a dangerous mystery involving:

🏴‍☠️ Professional thieves disguised as pirates

💰 Counterfeit money and a missing fortune

⚓ A legendary Spanish shipwreck

💀 A recently disturbed grave

🗺️ A 300-year-old maritime archive

🌴 Protected Florida wetlands

🇪🇸 A suspicious Spanish "Countess"

🇬🇧 British treasure hunters

🇱🇮 A mysterious Liechtenstein connection

🏢 A billion-dollar coastal development conspiracy

🌊 And a tropical storm bearing straight for Cedar Key

As Gumbo, Ellie Rodriguez, Captain Beignet the basset hound, and a cast of increasingly bizarre Florida characters chase the clues, they discover that the treasure isn't just about gold.

It's about control of the Florida coastline.

A powerful development operation called Operation Sandcastle is using political influence, shell companies, fake robberies, and hired criminals to gain access to protected coastal land—and the ancient maps Gumbo uncovers could expose the entire scheme.

Then a hurricane hits.

Gumbo finds himself trapped in a lighthouse with pirates, corporate criminals, stolen treasure maps, and the people behind the conspiracy.

And that's when things get really weird.

Because the ultimate treasure may be hidden somewhere nobody expected...

Inside the walls of Cedar Key's brand-new convention center.

Now Gumbo and his unlikely allies have one chance to expose the conspiracy, recover the lost treasure, and stop the people trying to pave over Florida's coastline.

And naturally, their plan involves a pirate costume party, a building full of stolen Spanish gold, a bunch of former criminals, and one very irritated twelve-foot alligator.

😂 PIRATE INVESTIGATOR is a wild and whacky Florida mystery packed with outrageous humor, eccentric characters, treasure hunting, private investigator sleuthing, coastal adventure, international intrigue, pirate heists, hidden history, Florida crime, and nonstop Sunshine State chaos.

And just when Gumbo thinks the case is finally over...

Captain Beignet finds another Spanish gold coin buried beneath the detective's own stilthouse.

Because in Cedar Key, apparently even the treasure isn't finished with Gumbo.
