This is clearly meant to be a starting issue for people getting into comics because of the new Superman movie. the beginning and end set up the story but the middle of the issue has Superman's life flashing before his eyes and acts as a retelling of his origin. The story itself is interesting but the artwork could be better, especially for a new number 1 meant to draw in new readers. The $5 price may seem high for this quality of art and with 1/3 being retelling his origin, but it looks like issue 2 will get right into the action. This new status quo should be interesting but obviously it won't last forever.
