About this ebook

Goblins are the weakest of the monsters, with only numbers in their favor. No warrior would dedicate himself to their eradication--except for Goblin Slayer.
As his reputation spreads, a quest comes from none other than the Supreme God's own archbishop--Sword Maiden, the Gold-ranked adventurer renowned for defeating a Demon Lord. The former hero brings a report of goblins beneath the flourishing, peaceful water town, followed by a plea for Goblin Slayer and his companions to investigate, since no one else will. Searching the catacombs beneath the town, though, the party discovers that the trouble runs far deeper than any of them realized. How are all these goblins entering the city? And why is Sword Maiden so desperate...?

It is a good little story. It's got a good mix of many elements along very distinct Japanese story telling methods. One thing I like about the book is that it doesn't not shy away from the true horrors experienced by those the goblins capture. I feel like the depths of this darkness makes the protagonist stand out more. The characters aren't quite as deep as if like but I can see this changing maybe. It's hard to tell with such short novels. I look forward to seeing where this goes.

Goblin Slayer (GS) isn't worth the effort. At one time I believed the hype. Now that I've read seven books - Why! Oh why seven! - I can unequivocally say that it is a horrible read at best. First book ends with the best battle of series enjoy it and leave. You think GS will be an unifying voice not a chance for the next six books! If your interested in reading how 5 can beat a hundred then hundreds then possibly thousands with no change or growth characters then keep reading. The MacGyver-esque hero could be fun if the author just didn't go to ludicrous proportions. How many times does author line up 20 or 30 goblins to be mowed down without the heroes ever being overwhelmed much less when there are hundreds! Later in the series another wide open encounter of many many goblins the heroes send out Priestess alone because she needs to learn how to lead rookies. She needs to find 10 rookies lost in a forest in the dark before running into a goblin because we all known how that ends!

Another solid read in this series. A lot of subtle (and not so subtle) DnD and Lord of the Rings references cleverly woven into the plot. Many a goblin died in the making of this novel.
