Appropriate Force

In the dying West Texas town of Ojos Secos, justice isn’t blind. It’s armed.

Mercer Sample rolled into the Chihuahuan Desert looking for a cheap motel and a quiet night. Instead, he gets a front-row seat to a violent, precision extraction. A heavy-duty Silverado tears the security grate off the local hardware store, blows the floor safe, and drags the owner’s beautiful, screaming wife into the pitch-black night.

The local law hides behind locked doors. The husband, Elias Vance, is left beaten, isolated, and desperate. He offers Mercer a fortune in hidden cash to track the notorious Dalton brothers across the badlands and bring his wife home.

But the desert sand doesn't lie, and the tire tracks tell a terrifyingly different story.

As Mercer and Vance push deeper into off-the-grid cartel territory, dodging sniper ambushes and burning wreckage, the illusion of the perfect marriage shatters. The physical evidence proves the terrified hostage isn’t a victim at all. She’s a calculating femme fatale, the architect of the heist, and she's heavily armed.

The truth destroys the desperate husband, forging him into a cold-blooded killer obsessed with revenge. Now, Mercer isn’t leading a rescue mission—he’s escorting a broken man on a suicide run. Trapped in the high peaks of the Chinati Mountains, the relentless pursuit culminates in a brutal, close-quarters tactical shootout inside an abandoned silver mine where loyalty is a liability, and betrayal carries a massive body count.
