I want to like Rey as a character. I want to see her struggle because I don't feel like she really did that in the movies. With that being said, her "struggle" in this book was painful to read. It takes the ENTIRE book for her to accomplish her one goal and in it she even accomplishes a secondary force-related goal many others couldn't even fathom accomplishing. Meanwhile, I did not like Leia's relationship as a mentor to Rey. It came across more as a mother tending to a child than a "Master" to an apprentice.

Book reads more like one of those highly improbable Hallmark TV movies. Where the plot relys on nothing but a series of incredible coincidences and remedial well treaded plot devices. with the amazing powers of plot armor tropes. This book was penned by an acomplished Author. However it reads like a juvenile Nancy Drew mystery where the girl seems to stumbles across every important clue almost if by happenstance.or somehow seems to know more then she should have any right to know.
