Desiree Gray is a certified financial education instructor and parenting writer with over fifteen years of experience helping families build healthy relationships with money. She holds a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences from the University of Georgia and is a Certified Financial Education Instructor (CFEI) through the National Financial Educators Council.
Gray's work has appeared in *Parents* magazine, *The Simple Dollar*, and *U.S. News & World Report*, where she writes regularly about the intersection of parenting and personal finance. She has been featured as a financial literacy speaker at the National Conference on Family Financial Education and has led workshops for school districts, PTAs, and community organizations across the country.
Before becoming a full-time writer and educator, Gray spent eight years as a high school family and consumer sciences teacher, where she developed and taught a personal finance curriculum that was adopted by her district. That classroom experience—watching teenagers discover the power of compound interest, wrestle with budgeting decisions, and plan for their financial futures—shaped her conviction that financial education must start much earlier, in the home, and be reinforced consistently through childhood.
Gray lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband and three children, who have served as her most honest and demanding test audience for the strategies described in this book. She is a firm believer that children learn best when they're given real responsibility, real money, and real consequences in a supportive environment—and that parents don't need to be financial experts to raise kids who are.
