Johnathan Estrella Rodrig is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and the founder of the Gentle Strength Method. With more than fifteen years of experience coaching women in midlife and beyond, he has built his practice on a simple observation: the women most often overlooked by a fitness industry obsessed with youth and intensity are precisely the ones who benefit most from strength training — and they deserve a method designed for them. His work focuses on safe, progressive, joint-friendly programming for women in their forties, fifties, sixties, and beyond, with a particular emphasis on muscle and bone health.
A decade and a half of coaching women with osteopenia, osteoporosis, joint replacements, and long histories of being told they were "too fragile" to lift shaped his coaching philosophy: meet people exactly where they are, move gently, progress patiently, and let the evidence do the talking. He holds certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CSCS) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and has completed advanced continuing education in bone health, post-rehabilitation exercise, and working with older adults.
Johnathan has contributed articles on strength training after forty to fitness and health publications, and he regularly leads workshops and small-group programs on bone-building exercise for community health organizations. His writing is guided by the conviction that strength is a lifelong skill — something to be built, practiced, and enjoyed at every age, rather than something that belongs to the young.
Today, when he is not coaching, he is a devoted advocate of the simplest fitness advice he knows: carry something heavy now and then, stand up tall, and keep showing up. *The Gentle Strength Method* is his invitation to the women who have spent a lifetime caring for others to finally claim a little strength for themselves.
