Imagine Heaven: Near-Death Experiences, God's Promises, and the Exhilarating Future That Awaits You

Like other reviewers I was taken back by how much Christian doctrine was in this number 1 rated book on NDEs. I certainly wasn't expecting the book to be filled with more scripture references than NDEs. I feel the author does a good job with his intent to show his Christian views (interpretations) of the afterlife via NDEs but I feel he stretches very far and keeps things in the Christian dogma box. This in my opinion limits the book's potential but keeps it "safe" for the Christian community. I have issue with his one except of IANDS, author throwing their research out as bias/skewed. My own NDE, End of life, and psychedelic research show me a similar cosmic story of God's love but not as clear cut and dry as Christians and this book portray.

I've been interested in the recent stories of people dieing and returning with amazing stories about visiting heaven. When I found this book I thought it might be an interesting and factual book and it has been, but it's turned out to be so much more. Reading about people's encounter with Jesus and about how His love impacted them so powerfully that they didn't want to come back really spoke a powerful message to me. Jesus is returning soon and we are going to realize we've been chasing after the wrong things. This book has encouraged me to take a closer look at my life and the things I've been doing to show the love of Jesus to others.

In all my many long decades of submitting myself wholeheartedly and unashamedly to my fanatical case of bibliophilia, never have i EVER read a more fascinating, captivating, thrilling book as "Imagine Heaven" by Mr. John Burke. I first read it during a long, lonely 6 month stint in jail, and as I read it , i found myself staying up long nights while all the other inmates slept, and i gave myself over to praising our Lord, praying for hours during the silent dark nights, filled with joy in Jesus' promises. There's only one gift I'm giving every one of my friends and family members this Christmas season, and that's John Burke''s "Imagine Heaven".
