About this ebook

It's somewhere in time that feels Victorian. A playwright and his high-society woman have had a falling out. He's feeling lost with his career and disillusioned with his art. She's accused him of carrying on with another woman.

The catch?

He has no idea who the beautiful, artistic "other woman" is, though he seems to remember once seeing her in passing at the seaside. Nevertheless, he's been handed proof: mysterious love letters he has no recollection of either writing or receiving. The love letters seem real. And they are stirring his affection and artistic heart.

This steam punk tale first appeared in Sara Barkat's collection The Shivering Ground & Other Stories. Now it's available as a standalone novella! The Shivering Ground was a National Indie Excellence Awards finalist.

Sara Barkat loves all things Victorian, gothic, and light horror. Throw in science and philosophy, and you've got the source of much of her storytelling inspiration. Her debut science fiction novel is a thought-provoking space opera called Otherside. She is also the illustrator of two unabridged gothic tales she adapted into graphic novels: The Yellow Wall-Paper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and The Colour out of Space by H.P. Lovecraft.
