Synopsis

The year is 2012, Luis Oden is about to graduate as an Aerospace Engineer and he expects to be chosen to participate in the ambitious Project Hermes, to develop a new generation of space shuttles in the new European Aerospace Center of Seville, Spain. His life is seemingly perfect until he begins to suffer recurring nightmares where mighty beasts, that seem to come from the Norse mythology, assault and torture him urging him to wake up. But wake up to what?

Meanwhile, Jack Preston, a Lieutenant Colonel from the USAF and responsible for the tests of the X-56 Phoenix, a prototype of an orbital superiority combat jet fighter, is sent together with his crew to Seville to review the development of the Hermes program. There he will meet Luis when they are chosen to star the parachuting exhibition for the Day of Hispanity.

Both Luis and Preston ignore it, but a dark menace is coming and only their choices will be able to give a chance to humankind to survive.

An UNENDING PARADE of trite expressions. Kept bumping against then and could not finish past chapter 3. Looks like a good story, though.

I find the book quite interesting. A mixture of Scandinavian folklore? and modern technology. The war that started over Seville, same as Luis's dreams was fascinating. The end quite unique. I'd like to read the next following the life of Luis and the Mark of Oden.

About the author

Born in 1982 in Barcelona, Xavier Marcé graduated in Journalism in the city of Seville, where he lives after having lived in Badalona, Casablanca, Zurich, Oslo and Hanoi.

Since 1996 he has specialized in the communication and management of online communities, mainly in the video game sector. He began his journalistic work collaborating for three years in the Micromanía Magazine, being responsible for the Online Zone section. In 2004 he founded, together with David Puig, the first magazine in Spanish specialized in the massively multiplayer online game, Juegaenred.com, and would direct it until 2013, at which time he left it to create a new magazine, GoMultiplayer.

In 2007 he made the leap to the video game industry with Funcom as Spanish Community Manager of Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures and The Secret World until 2010. Since then, he has combined the publishing world with that of video games, mainly with Megapop Games, launching titles such as Trolls vs Vikings 1 & 2, Meganumbers, Haxity or Rob Riches, and the university world as a teacher in the Master in Online Marketing and Social Media Strategies at the University of Seville.

A proactive and restless person, Xavier Marcé has set out to create new paths for literature with the transmedia literary saga of 'Mark of Odin'. After the release of the first three books of the saga: 'The Awakening', 'Road to Valhalla' and 'Ragnarok', Marcé publishes 'The Stone Lotus' his first independent fiction thriller novel resulting from his stay in Vietnam in 2022.

In 2023 he decides to unify all his current and future works under the brand of 'XaviVerso', Xavier Marcé's literary universe where everything is connected. In addition, he published the political thriller 'Yes, They Will Pass! Civil War in 24 tweets', his most controversial work to date.
