About this ebook
ME VOLTEO.
“TIME TO WAKE UP.”
I SPIN AROUND. WHO SAID THAT? ACROSS THE STREET, I SEE HIM. WISPY LIKE SOFT RAIN. A GHOST? LIKE ME?
Twelve-year-old Jerome is the latest victim, shot by a white police officer who mistakes his toy gun for a threat. As a ghost, he observes the devastation that’s been unleashed on his family and community in the wake of what they see as an unjust and brutal killing. Once again Jewell Parker Rhodes deftly weaves historical and sociopolitical layers into a gripping and poignant story.
