About this ebook

Diabetes mellitus has emerged as one of the most significant global health challenges of the 21st century, affecting millions of individuals worldwide. Its complex pathophysiology, multifactorial etiology, and wide range of complications make it a critical area of study in medical and pharmaceutical sciences. This book, “diabetes mellitus: pathophysiology, prevention, and pharmacological management,” has been developed with the objective of providing a comprehensive and systematic understanding of the disease. It covers essential aspects ranging from basic concepts and classification to advanced topics such as molecular mechanisms, preventive strategies, pharmacological interventions, and emerging therapeutic approaches. The content is organized into ten chapters, each focusing on a specific dimension of diabetes. The initial chapters introduce the fundamental concepts, epidemiology, and pathophysiology, while the subsequent sections explore risk factors, clinical manifestations, and complications. Further chapters emphasize preventive strategies, pharmacological management of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and recent advancements in treatment. The final section highlights integrated and multidisciplinary approaches essential for effective disease management. This work aims to serve as a valuable resource for students, researchers, healthcare professionals, and academicians by presenting scientifically accurate, structured, and easy-to-understand information. It also seeks to enhance awareness about the growing burden of diabetes and the importance of early diagnosis, prevention, and effective management.
