About this ebook
Al Fieldston comes to the Sunland Health Colony expecting seclusion, discipline, and the chance to finish the novel he has long meant to write. Instead, he finds a sunlit nudist world where embarrassment, temptation, and comic surprise arrive almost immediately, beginning with Joanie Baker's easy confidence and his friend Jack Meehan's infectious enthusiasm for the colony's unusual freedoms. A Chicago advertising copywriter with a background in journalism, Al has taken a three-month leave to escape city distractions and turn ambition into fiction. Jack, a successful magazine writer, has drawn him into the project after an outrageous reporting assignment on the colony promises money, research, and adventure. But what begins as a practical retreat soon becomes a test of character when Al interviews Dr. Richards at a respectable suburban home, meets Mrs. Richards and the striking Sandra, and learns the colony's strict rules of health, privacy, and conduct before being asked to strip as a final formality. Once inside, Al settles into the rhythms of nudist life, works steadily on his book, and begins to admire the colony's calm, natural openness. Yet the arrival of Sandra, bold, alluring, and fully aware of the power of clothing, turns freedom into desire and forces him to confront the uneasy line between liberation and temptation. This edition has been fully restored with modern typesetting, custom cover design.
