Juan Gonzalez is a productivity strategist, speaker, and founder of the *Living Forward* method, a coaching practice that helps professionals, creatives, and entrepreneurs escape the burnout cycle of traditional goal-setting. With a background in cognitive psychology and behavioral economics, Juan spent a decade studying why so many people fail to achieve their stated goals—not because they lack discipline, but because the conventional goal-setting framework itself is flawed.
After a personal crisis at age 28—where he realized he had achieved all his “checklist” goals (good job, nice apartment, six-figure salary) yet felt empty—Juan began experimenting with alternative approaches. He interviewed over 200 high performers, including Olympic athletes, artists, and Fortune 500 executives, and discovered a common pattern: the most fulfilled and effective people did not focus on fixed targets. They focused on trajectories, learning, and identity.
He synthesized those findings into the No-Goal Goal Setting System, which he has taught to more than 10,000 clients through workshops, online courses, and one-on-one coaching. His clients range from startup founders and mid-career executives to college students and retirees. Juan’s work has been featured in *Psychology Today*, *Fast Company*, and on the *TEDx* stage (his talk “The Goal That Set Me Free” has over 1.5 million views).
When not writing or coaching, Juan lives in Portland, Oregon, with his wife and two rescue dogs. He is an avid trail runner and a terrible guitarist—both activities he pursues with no goal other than to enjoy the process. He believes that the best things in life happen when we stop chasing them and start moving in the right direction.
