Dark Visions: The Strange Power; The Possessed; The Passion

Dark Visions by L.J. Smith was a fun read. It’s got that classic supernatural YA vibe with psychic powers, mystery, romance, and a bunch of drama. The story follows Kaitlyn, who gets invited to this school for teens with special abilities, but things start getting darker and more messed up the more she learns about what’s going on there. The best part for me was the characters, Gabriel. He’s chaotic, unpredictable, and kind of toxic, but also the most interesting person in the series. The tension between him and Kaitlyn keeps the story entertaining. I also liked how fast-paced the books were. They’re easy to get into and hard to put down because something is always happening. Even though the world-building isn’t super detailed, the psychic powers and group dynamics make up for it. At the same time, some parts feel dated since it’s older YA fiction, and the romance can get a little dramatic at times.

I had read this series when I was a young girl, and I had enjoyed it thoroughly; it still manages to amuse me today as an adult. It's not a perfect piece of literature by any means, but it's definitely something I would enjoy reading on a rainy day.

Once again, I truly enjoyed this series by Smith. The Vampire Diaries were still my favourites but I am now looking forward to reading the conclusion to the Night World series.
