very well done, as expected from Scott Snyder. His time with Batman in the new 52 showed that he understood Gotham and Bruce Wayne, and now he's getting the chance to change our perspective on it with this new universe. I love how Bruce is still involved in building up Gotham, just in a smaller way than his main continuity counter part. the only concern I have is how he'll do the joker in this series, as rn he seems to be going down a similar route to main continuity Bruce, even mentioning ducard and the league of assassins. The idea that Bruce grew up with what'll inevitably become his rogues gallery is very intriguing. The art was great, I've never seen the artists work before this but they did a great job overall. definitely excited for issue 2.

Amazing new interpretation of Batman. This book does a lot of things different but Scott Snyder keeps enough of the core elements to where it still feels like Bruce Wayne/Batman. The changes here are more than the characters at the start of Marvel's original Ultimate Universe from 2000, but the respect for the source material is there. This was a great first issue with great writing and solid art and it reminded me of the days when comics were good. I know good comics still exist, but this book specifically reminded me of pre MCU days when Marvel and DC hired talented people and had no cinematic universes to rely on. I can't wait to see where this story goes.

I love this new interpretation of Batman. even though he's young he knows the system we see fixed or broken to be built anew. he doesn't have the billionaire playboy status but he's got the genius, and that makes him very dangerous in a good way
