Johann David Wyss (1743-1818) was a Swiss pastor born in Bern who wrote The Swiss Family Robinson for his four sons as a lesson in resourcefulness. His son Johann Rudolf edited and published it, and it was translated across Europe within a decade. His work is The Swiss Family Robinson.
