About this ebook

A Paris salon, an unhappy marriage, and a woman who goes to Florence and falls in love with the sculptor who follows her there — until the past arrives too, in the form of the lover she has left. Fifty-nine plates of Paris salons and Florentine light, from Boldini and Béraud among others, mirror the novel's own passage from the drawing room to the studio.
