About this ebook

I rebuilt my grandmother’s bakery from the ground up. Poured everything I had into making it thrive again—flour, sweat, and a whole lot of tears.

Then she died. And her will blindsided me.

If I’m not married by the time probate closes, I lose the bakery to my mother—the last person who should ever be trusted with it.

Enter Bodie Gibson.

Childhood friend turned enemy. The boy who used to bring me tea and peanut butter sandwiches…

The cop who put my little brother behind bars.

He offers me a way out: a fake marriage that keeps the bakery in my hands and our past buried where it belongs.

It’s just paperwork. A few public appearances. Nothing real.

Except he still looks at me like he sees the girl I used to be.

And when he kisses me it doesn’t feel fake at all.

In a town built on second chances, sometimes the only way forward is to rewrite the ending.

What a wonderful return to Gibson Hollow! Enjoy the update on rebuild progress as we see Emmaline and Bodie navigate their own little building project... building a marriage from a business pact whilst fending off Emmaline's miserable mother. As always this is another piece of wonderful story telling by Kait. Her main characters are like old friends. Can't wait for the next book. I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Bodie and Emmaline's story is angstier than the first book. Luckily that it has Bodie, his family, and Sasspatch Society helped lighten the mood. Bodie's swoony personality and his protective act also helped made it easier to read, feel heartwarming, and swoon over him as well. So if you love to read a small town romance with heartfelt, close-knit, and love meddling families and friends combined with angst and all the feels, I think you will enjoy reading this book as same as I do.

Emmaline Maddox is the local baker and she has been working tirelessly to reopen the bakery, hopefully making her Gran proud. Bodie Gibson is the town sheriff, and used to be Emmaline's best friend, until he arrested her baby brother who ended up in prison. This book is an emotional rollercoaster, and despite the "feud" between their two families, they find the town is looking out for people in their time of need. In Emmaline's case what she needs in a husband and someone to love unconditionally
