About this ebook

Mystery Stone from the Shenandoah

Analyzed with Eastern Woodland Cosmology

Found in a field by the Shenandoah River near Berryville, Virginia, a tablet-shaped stone bears mysterious peck-marks that show signs of intentional design. In this richly illustrated and rigorous study, the author invites readers into a multi-layered investigation—blending archaeology, Indigenous cosmology, visual analysis, and personal reflection.

The author guides readers through possible interpretations, including archetypal figures such as the avian-man, skeletal shaman, and Earth Mother. The imagery echoes the tripartite Indigenous view of the cosmos—Overworld, This World, and Netherworld—and resonates with the symbolic depth of Eastern Woodland traditions.

With an openness to uncertainty, this work embraces mystery. The result is both scholarly and spiritual: a portal into the past, bringing significance to the present, and a reminder that meaning can arise from mystery itself.
