About this ebook

The Scotsman delivers a classic medieval romance built on forced proximity and a slow-burn pull between two people who never intended to want each other.

It begins when the niece of Eleanor of Aquitaine puts her freedom in the hands of the one man her father fears most...

To escape a marriage she refuses to endure, Nora strikes a bargain with Ewan MacAllister—safe passage to England, no questions asked. He intends to honor it only long enough to be rid of her.

The road south has other ideas. What begins as an unwanted duty becomes a pull neither warrior nor lady can command, and by the time England rises on the horizon, her father’s wrath may be the smallest danger they face.

Previously published under her alter ego Kinley MacGregor, these beloved medieval romances from #1 New York Times bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon return—retitled, refreshed, and restored to the author’s original vision. Fans of Sherrilyn Kenyon, and of sweeping medieval settings spanning Scotland and England, will find this an immersive entry that rewards both new and returning readers.

There’s just something magical about medieval times romance stories for me. Rose colored glasses and all that for the time period but still. I enjoyed the opposites attract blended with a kind of forced proximity story here. I liked the action and the twists it’s surely not a straightforward path to true love that for sure and perhaps that’s what makes this such a wonderful story to enjoy. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book, The Scotsman, was originally written by Sherrilyn Kenyon under the pen name Kinley MacGregor and previously published under the name Taming the Scotsman. It’s been very lightly edited with being republished but it’s basically still the same book that I own and loved before. This is the 4th book in the Brotherhood of the Sword series. You don’t have to read the previous ones to enjoy this book, but I recommend reading them to really understand Ewan and why he’s drunk in a cave at th

"A barbarian was what she needed at the moment. A barbarian with a mighty big sword." Nora is quite the chatty Cathy and I adored that about her! She could talk the ears off a saint, and I thoroughly enjoyed how the author used that trait to separate the men from the boys in her circle. Ewan is filled with guilt and self-recriminations due to the folly of the last woman he loved, so his reticence is perfectly understandable. But even he couldn't resist Nora's genuine charm and sunny disposition, even when everything about her plan seems to go wrong. There were lots of twists and turns, surprise alliances, and intense adventure along the way, which only heightened the emotions starting to develop between Ewan and Nora. I loved getting to know each of them and immensely enjoyed watching them fall in love. Despite seeing a deeply satisfying HEA for Ewan and Nora, I was a bit disappointed that we didn't yet get justice for the main villain. Hopefully that will be on the docket for the next book in this engaging series. As with the earlier books in this series, this was a beautiful story well told, one I couldn't put down, and I highly recommend them all as among the best in medieval England and Scotland romances.
