The author behind this story was Hector Hugh Munro, who wrote under the pen name ‘Saki’. Born in 1870 in Burma (now Myanmar) ) and raised by strict aunts in England, Saki was famous for his witty short stories. Sadly, Saki’s life ended during the First World War in 1916, but he left behind a collection of stories that are still celebrated for their dark humour and surprising endings.
