Just one of the communities on a vast generation ship on a centuries long journey to a new world. 500 years ago the machines stopped working and life since then has been frugal. But everyone plays their part. And when you reach 65 you are recycled – it’s only fair; you can’t work anymore and your resources are needed.

YA fiction by the numbers. Teenager turns out to be special and saves the day. None of the complexity or innovative ideas of previous Hamilton.

a bit slow to start as well as being a bit simplistic but it builds in both pace and style. Looking forward to the next book
