About this ebook

From the USA Today bestselling author of BOYFRIEND MATERIAL and HUSBAND MATERIAL comes a charming New Adult LGBTQIA+ romance perfect for fans of Heartstopper.

Drew's always prided himself on being the "right" kind of nerd. He plays sports, has a solid group of friends, and never had any problem talking to girls. Sure, he spends time playing Heroes of Legend, the biggest MMORPG on the planet, but it's just a fun hobby, not his identity. Falling for someone in a video game? Not his style.

Until it is.

Enter Kit: witty, kind, razor-sharp, and a healer who's saved Drew's virtual skin more times than he can count. She's also, turns out, a boy in real life. The realization knocks Drew off-balance, but it doesn't take long for him to figure out the simple truth—he likes Kit, no matter Kit's gender.

The real challenge? Kit's reality is leagues apart from Drew's. Being online is his life, and while he's willing to come out of his shell an inch at a time, there's such a wide gulf between them that Drew's left wondering: can love truly bridge the distance...or are they fated to remain in separate worlds forever?

This didn't really work for me - there are a ton of footnotes which just do not work well on a Kindle so 50% of the time I had no idea what people were doing/saying. I would say this would go over the head of anyone who hasn't done at least a little MMORPG and the in-game chat became a little irritating. I loved Drew and Kit and I found their 'tiff' very easy to understand from both sides but as a non-gamer the rest was lost on me. I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley.

this nerdy book was written some time ago for an audience of LGBTQ+ gamers. Much of the book takes place in a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). I would have been lost without the glossary. Once I adjusted, I enjoyed this sweet story of two college students who meet in a game and fall in love. The author’s love of games shines through, & I loved the depiction of developing strong friendships online, loving what you love regardless of what others think, & finding acceptance.

I loved how the author talked about sexual awakening, made the socially awkward but awesome nerds centre of this story and validated my opinion that online friendships are sometimes more real and solid that real life interactions. I loved the outside video game parts. I absolutely loved Kit. I kind of liked Drew. He was being a judgmental d1ck many times projecting his own insecurities onto Kit but hey, there is immense character growth and he owned upto his mistakes. ( arc review)
