Devante and Eden are both new residents in Laurel Springs. They each came under different circumstances, but are beginning to settle into the lives they have chosen to make. Having danced around each other for a while, they finally accept their attraction to one another. They have things in common, which they enjoy. They have other things that cause a distance and they need to get straight with each other. Secrets and lies, whether spoken out or kept to oneself, will come back to bite and life in this small town is very good to them. Devante is Book 6 of the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team (LSERT) series. It's a steamy, small-town, friends-to-lovers, found family, girl gets her hunk romance. Devante moved from Atlanta to Laurel Springs to join the LSERT. He works with cutter. He has emotional baggage stemming from years of prejudice being a person of color. Eden is a sweet girl who has moved from Chicago to get away from an abusive ex. She has opened her own coffee shop. These two have become fast friends over the last few months and really feel accepted in this small town. When Devante finds Eden in pain at work, she has a health scare, and he realizes his feelings are deeper than just friendship. He helps take care of her. Both have baggage they need to work through. What happens when Eden's past catches up with her? I really loved this couple. They had amazing chemistry, and we got a happy ending after some drama.
