“Everyone secretly wants to be a slave. That is the truth that no one wants to admit. Those who deny it simply haven’t found the right master yet.” Such an intriguing and philosophical read. This short story was much more than I expected; the author created such a gloomy, suspense battle story. Trying to figure out if Tamara could trust Davit, was both unpredictable and frustrating. Although I truly enjoyed this story, I was unsatisfied with the ending. I wished that the story was a bit longer. There was a lot of back story information I felt was missing—how Tamara’s sister was taken and what is the order’s end goal? I recommend this story to readers that enjoy short story, war stories, battlefield stories, covert warfare and revolutions. I’m rating "Lord of the Slaves" by Joe Vasicek a 3.5 out of 5.
