Ghosting Her is a paranormal sapphic romance comedy about grief, healing, second chances, and the terrifying possibility that your dead wife still has opinions about your love life.
Set in Providence, the story follows Zara and Misha, an Indian-origin married couple whose lives are torn apart after Misha’s sudden death. Left behind with heartbreak, memories, and far too many unanswered questions, Zara struggles to rebuild her life while navigating loss with the support of her chaotic best friend and loving family.
Meanwhile, Misha discovers that being dead is not nearly as peaceful as she expected. Watching life continue without her? Horrible. Seeing Zara slowly learn how to move forward? Even worse. She’s stuck somewhere between the afterlife and emotional denial, carrying catastrophic levels of ghostly FOMO while refusing to let go of the woman she still loves.
Blending paranormal romance, emotional drama, witty banter, found family, and heartfelt queer love, Ghosting Her explores life after death through both humor and heartbreak. It is a story about surviving grief, learning to love again, and discovering that moving on does not mean leaving someone behind.
Perfect for readers who love sapphic romance, paranormal love stories, emotional romantic comedies, queer fiction, ghost romances, afterlife stories, and character-driven healing journeys with humor and heart.
Will Zara open herself up to love again?
Will Misha finally accept her fate?
Or will love continue to haunt them both?
Hi, I’m Afreen S. Accidental author, professional overthinker, and apparently someone who keeps putting women in emotionally complicated situations for a living.
Somewhere along the way, books like The Ultimatrimony decided to wander onto Amazon’s Top 10 lesbian romance list and camp there for a while. I still check occasionally to make sure it actually happened and wasn’t just a stress-induced hallucination.
What started as a hobby quickly escalated into “wait… this might actually be a career” territory. One day I was quietly writing stories because my brain refused to shut up, and the next I was juggling romance, thriller plots, morally questionable decisions, and sapphic space disasters like The Legends of Alectrona.
Yes, that one is a sapphic space odyssey. Because apparently my answer to “what genre do you write?” is “all of them, but make it gay.”
I’ve also written thrillers like Deadlines vs Bloodlines, which proves I’m equally capable of writing emotional yearning and absolute chaos. Sometimes in the same chapter.
I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way. Some normal. Some spectacular enough to deserve their own apology tour. But every bad draft, questionable plot twist, and “what was I thinking?” moment has helped me grow into a better writer. Every book gets a little braver, a little sharper, and a little closer to the stories I actually want to tell.
The learning part never really stops though. I’m still figuring things out one chapter, one existential crisis, and one caffeine overdose at a time.
My hope is simple: that curious, open-minded, slightly chaotic people find my books and have fun with them. If a story makes you laugh, scream internally, fall in love with a fictional woman, or stare dramatically at the ceiling afterward, then I’ve probably done my job.
And if not… that’s fine too.
I’ll just write another book and emotionally ambush you again later.
