I live and work in Mankato, Minnesota. Mankato is the town Deep Valley is based on. So I decided it was time I read the Betsy-Tacy books. A friend of mine who is very interested in the historical value of the books encouraged me to start with Betsy And Tacy Go Downtown. It was so much fun to read the books and know just what places they are referencing. I've been to the Carnegie Library. I've been to the restored Betsy house and the restored Tacy house. I know the area. It was like a step back in time. If you love the books and like to travel I suggest a trip to Mankato, Minnesota. The Betsy-Tacy Society will take good care of you! And you can pick up one of my friend Julie Schrader's guide books to discovering Deep Valley. Enjoy!
