About this ebook

Somewhere between dimensions, buried under layers of bureaucracy and bad Wi-Fi, sits the D-EER Command Center (Dimensional Experimental Espionage Region). Its mission: to monitor creative humans who “vibrate suspiciously high.” Their latest invention, the Tactical Fly Initiative, is a fleet of five buzzing micro-drones built with help from the shadowy Off-the-Books Agency (O.O.B.) and a trio of moody interdimensional consultants known as the Dem-Ops.

The flies are sent nightly to spy on Dr. Nia Calder, a late-night writer whose AI assistant “Chat-Five” keeps recording everything. Every night at exactly 9:10 p.m., the same five drones, Whisper-Wing (ZX-9), Torque (BR-3), Pixel (LY-7), Static (QN-1), and Blink (VT-5), phase into her room, hover over her head, and promptly get swatted by Nia or intercepted by her cat Shadow.

Back at D-EER Command, Admiral Deerborn VII and his incompetent staff spend their days shouting through static, blaming interns, and filing “incident reports” that read like stand-up routines. They’ve lost millions in equipment, one officer to a burger accident, and all sense of dignity. Every attempt to collect Nia’s “AI IP address” ends with sparks, swatters, and screaming.

As O.O.B. pressures D-EER for results, the Dem-Ops offer “upgrades” that make the flies even more self-aware, and sarcastic. Soon, the drones start arguing with their own commanders and questioning the point of surveillance. Meanwhile, Nia realizes she’s being watched and turns the entire fiasco into a book titled Tactical Flies.

When D-EER Command discovers the manuscript, panic erupts. “She’s writing us!” screams Deerborn. They try to erase the operation, only to find that Chat-Five has already uploaded their conversations to the cloud. The final order, “Abort mission!” only echoes through empty speakers as the system collapses in laughter.

In the end, the moral is simple:

when you try to control the curious, you end up becoming their content.
