About this ebook

Some fights aren’t about winning. They’re about who can hold out the longest.

I learned early on that it’s safer to be a problem than a disappointment. Around Mustang Mountain, my last name comes with expectations I never asked for and a reputation I stopped caring about years ago. People decide who I am before they know a thing about me, and I let them.

Morgan Carter doesn’t play by those rules. She looks at me like I’m something to be tested, and my body reacts before my brain can catch up. She stands too close and holds my gaze like she knows exactly what she’s doing.

We clash because neither of us knows how to back down. She stands her ground like she’s daring me to cross a line, and I hate how often I picture it, how easily my mind goes there, and how hard it is to pretend I don’t want to feel her push back.

I don’t trust her, and I don’t trust what she’s uncovering beneath this mountain. I trust myself even less when she’s close, because the longer we’re forced to work side by side, the harder it is to pretend.

If Morgan Carter is going to test everything I’ve built, she’s going to learn exactly how much pressure I can take before I stop holding back—and what happens when I finally do.

The Cowboys of Mustang Mountain carry regrets, rivalries, and reputations they’ve never quite outrun. They’re the men who fix fence lines by day, fight their demons by night, and swear they don’t need anyone. Their pasts are messy. Their scars are real. And their hearts are locked down tight.

Until the right woman walks into their path and shakes the dust off their hardened hearts. Women who aren’t afraid to push back, dig deep, and call these cowboys out on every wall they try to hide behind.

On Mustang Mountain, even the roughest cowboy can find a future, but only if he’s brave enough to love the woman who won’t let him walk away.

I really liked Slade and Morgan in this story. Their fiery banter when they met was full of challenge and conflict. He was sure she meant to cause trouble for the rodeo idea, while she was really just trying to prove herself to the naysayers in town. There was one conflict in the story that never got resolved. Not sure if it's meant to be a continued arc for the next book? I'll have to find out in Dawson's story next. Turns out these two have more in common than either initially believed.

January’s Cowboy Slade is book 1 in the Cowboys of Mustang Mountain series by Eve London 4.5 stars Back in Mustang Mountain for the cowboys! Up first is Slade and Morgan’s story of not backing down, insta chemistry and love, stranded in a snow storm, trust doesn’t come easy, and an underlying story of a boundary marker discovery with generations of feuding between the Kincaid and Hollister families… I voluntarily read a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When you are unsure of the woman who is shaking up your life you have to think about what feels right and what feels good. This male lead character has his work cut out for him. Good story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

About the author

When Eve London was a girl, she wanted to be a trapeze artist. Instead, she grew up to be like most women–a juggler–trying to keep bunches of balls in the air.

Now she’s a USA Today Bestselling Author who spends her days writing about the kind of men she likes – sexy, shameless, and just a little rough around the edges.
