DONNA DETWILER is a productivity researcher and remote work strategist with over fifteen years of experience helping individuals and organizations build systems for focused, sustainable performance. She is the founder of Deep Focus Labs, a consultancy that works with distributed teams at companies including Stripe, Buffer, and GitLab to design workflows that prioritize deep work over reactive busyness. Her research on attention management and distributed team dynamics has been published in the *Journal of Applied Psychology* and the *Harvard Business Review*, and she has been a featured speaker at the SXSW Conference, the Remote Work Summit, and the World Productivity Congress.
Before founding Deep Focus Labs, Detwiler spent eight years as a senior product manager at a Fortune 500 technology company, where she led distributed teams across four continents and experienced firsthand the challenges of maintaining focus in a fully remote environment. That experience drove her to develop the Remote Work Productivity System, which she has since taught to over ten thousand professionals through her online course and certification program. She holds a Master's degree in Cognitive Science from the University of California, Berkeley, where her thesis examined the effects of digital interruption on sustained attention in knowledge workers.
Detwiler lives in Portland, Oregon, where she writes, runs trail ultramarathons, and conducts ongoing field research on remote work practices. Her first book, *The Focused Professional: A Guide to Deep Work in the Age of Distraction*, was published in 2021 and has been translated into six languages. She is currently working on her third book, which explores the relationship between workplace autonomy and long-term career satisfaction in distributed organizations.
