It is hit or miss with me and novels by Jamila Jasper. This one was a miss. This novel is about Jamaican-American psychologist, Kayla Williams, and European American real estate mogul, Grant Middleton. Kayla comes from a middle class traditional Jamaican family while Grant grew up in the lap of luxury. Kayla has a history of being extremely picky with men. Her friends think she is also rigid and at times self-righteous. Grant is able to overcome Kayla's flaws and break down her walls, although he is keeping a secret or two. I think it needed another round of editing prior to being published. For instance for her date for dinner at Grant's house, she puts on a sweater and pants. However when she gets to Grants house he mentions how good her dress looks and then during their sexual encounter later that night, she removes a sweater and pants. There was also some misspelled words. I love erotica. What I do not like about erotica is constant mention of the dimensions of the man's phallus and dirty talk that is borderline racist or continually refers to the girth or tightness of genitalia. I also did not understand why Kayla felt she needed her standby, Stanford, to be around after heartbreak. Overall it was an okay story for me.
