About this ebook

In the blizzard-shrouded mountain village of Skálevik, an ancient pact demands a bride be sacrificed every century to the Winter Wolf, a monstrous guardian believed to hold the eternal storm at bay. This year, sharp-witted healer Astrid volunteers, expecting a swift, frozen death. Instead, she is claimed by Halvor, a cursed werewolf jarl locked in agonizing half-shift for three centuries. His touch turns flesh to ice; every previous bride has shattered beneath it. The curse will break only when someone loves him enough to survive the cold that lives in his veins.

Trapped together in his decaying longhouse on the glacier’s edge, Astrid and Halvor begin as wary captor and defiant offering. Yet beneath his growls and her barbed words, understanding grows. Astrid discovers the blizzard is not divine wrath but Halvor’s own grief made weather (unleashed the night he mercy-killed his first mate rather than watch the curse consume her slowly). Each tentative touch that doesn’t kill her chips away at three hundred years of isolation. Snowball fights become stolen kisses; shared furs by the hearth become confessions; Astrid teaches a warrior who has forgotten gentleness how to hold without harming.

As winter deepens, their fragile bond is tested when southern raiders, guided by a treacherous villager, learn the “monster” now has a human heart he will not risk. They come for Astrid, certain capturing her will force Halvor to kneel. Faced with the choice to flee south to safety or stand beside the wolf who has finally remembered how to live, Astrid chooses the storm. In the final clash of steel and ice, love proves warmer than any curse. The blizzard stills for the first time in centuries, and Skálevik awakens to a dawn it has never known.
