채만식 기자, 소설가, 극작가 호는 백릉(白菱), 채옹(采翁) 1902년 전북 옥구군 출생 1950년 폐결핵으로 사망 역사적, 사회적인 상황을 신랄하게 비판한 풍자적인 작품을 주로 쓴 사실주의 작가라고 할 수 있다. 주요 작품으로는 레디메이드 인생, 치숙, 미스터 방 등의 단편소설과 《탁류》, 《태평천하》 등의 장편소설이 있다.
