About this ebook

Robyn O’Brien is not the most likely candidate for an antiestablishment crusade. A Houston native from a conservative family, this MBA and married mother of four was not someone who gave much thought to misguided government agencies and chemicals in our food—until the day her youngest daughter had a violent allergic reaction to eggs, and everything changed. The Unhealthy Truth is both the story of how one brave woman chose to take on the system and a call to action that shows how each of us can do our part and keep our own families safe.

O’Brien turns to accredited research conducted in Europe that confirms the toxicity of America’s food supply, and traces the relationship between Big Food and Big Money that has ensured that the United States is one of the only developed countries in the world to allow hidden toxins in our food—toxins that can be blamed for the alarming recent increases in allergies, ADHD, cancer, and asthma among our children. Featuring recipes and an action plan for weaning your family off dangerous chemicals one step at a time The Unhealthy Truth is a must-read for every parent—and for every concerned citizen—in America today.

This book is an easy read and very informative. The primary writer is a mom, coming from a background in finance - so don't expect the most incredible writing. That said, I think she makes it very easy for anyone to understand the importance of what's happening to our food supply. She may or may not be as naive as you are about the food we're eating today. When I read this book, I was already an advocate of organic foods but I found it interesting to follow her journey. As she openly states she's not a hippie but rather a life-long Republican who was shocked to discover how big business and big pharmaceutical companies were playing such a scary role in our food production. READ THIS BOOK!!!

While the information in the book just begins to scratch the surface of the realities of our food system, I think this is something everyone should read, especially parents. I became much more interested in these topics when I had a baby and wanted to provide the best for them. I see too many people around me that are completely clueless to the reality that our food system actually leaves much to be desired and is actually much less safe for our long term health than one would like to believe.
