About this ebook

The international bestselling series with over 5 million copies sold in the U.S. alone!

In the wake of Araluen's uneasy truce with the raiding Skandians comes word that the Skandian leader has been captured by a dangerous desert tribe. The Rangers - and Will - are sent to free him. But the desert is like nothing these warriors have seen before. Strangers in a strange land, they are brutalized by sandstorms, beaten by the unrelenting heat, tricked by one tribe that plays by its own rules, and surprisingly befriended by another. Like a desert mirage, nothing is as it seems. Yet one thing is constant: the bravery of the Rangers.

"Bringing together many favorite characters for a grand adventure, this book delivers both excitement and quiet good times." - Booklist

Perfect for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, T.H. White’s The Sword in the Stone, Christopher Paolini’s Eragon series, and George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire series.

Great book and series, however. I'm confused about why this is considered book seven when books 5 and 6 technically happen after this. due to book 7 Will still has a bronze oak leaf but in 5 and 6 he has completed his final test, gotten his silver oak leaf, and assigned his own station and no longer an apprentice of Hault. Though I haven't finished book 7 yet, that might become clearer later on possibly, but the confusing aspect of it so far brought it down a star for me personally.

I wondered how they would treat Erak and how much ransom money would be requested. Who would be sent on the mission with them? My heart started beating faster when I got to the part where the hunters became the hunted. I wondered what would become of will and tug. I wanted to find out who would win the race. What happened to Halt and the others? How were they treated? Would will rescue them in time? So many questions without answers, I wanted to skim through and read only the most important parts.
