His Evening Out

Governed by the inescapable laws of social awkwardness and terrible timing, our protagonist finds himself caught in a mounting series of misunderstandings, trivial disasters, and frantic face-saving maneuvers.

In His Evening Out, Jerome K. Jerome trains his brilliant observational wit on the anxieties and absurdity of polite society. What begins as a straightforward plan for a pleasant, unremarkable night away from home quickly unravels into a comedy of errors.

With the same dry irony and warm-hearted skepticism toward human nature that made him an international sensation, Jerome perfectly captures the panic of trying to keep up appearances when everything is going wrong.

Often overlooked in favor of his longer novels, His Evening Out showcases Jerome at his sharpest, delivering a bite-sized, fast-paced piece of Edwardian humor.
