EXTENDED SUMMARY THE EXPLOSIVE CHILD A New Approach for Understanding and Parenting Easily Frustrated, Chronically Inflexible Children: Based On The Book By Ross W. Greene, Phd

You've tried the sticker charts. The time-outs. The stricter consequences everyone swears work. And still, the same explosion happens over the same broken cracker, the same homework page, the same request to simply put on shoes. You're not imagining the pattern, and you're not failing as a parent — you're using tools built for a different kind of child than the one in front of you.

This extended summary distills Dr. Ross W. Greene's groundbreaking Explosive Child model into a fast, usable guide for parents, teachers, and counselors who need answers now, not another 400-page read. Inside, you'll find the real reason traditional discipline backfires with easily frustrated, chronically inflexible children, the specific skills behind every "unsolved problem," and the step-by-step Collaborative Problem Solving method that replaces power struggles with lasting cooperation — at home, in the classroom, and across the whole family.

This is an independent study companion and extended summary, written to support readers of the original sixth edition; it is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Ross W. Greene, PhD, or his publisher, and is not a replacement for the complete original book.

If you're raising, teaching, or counseling a child who seems to explode without warning, this guide gives you language for what's happening and a plan that actually holds up under pressure. Read it tonight, and walk into tomorrow's hard moment already knowing what to do.
