Ruby Jasmin is a parent, language educator, and writer who has spent the past decade helping families build confident bilingual homes without the stress of formal curricula. She holds a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of British Columbia and has worked with multilingual families in Canada, the United States, and Southeast Asia.
Ruby's approach grows out of her own experience raising two children in a language that was not her first. She knows what it feels like to doubt yourself mid sentence, to wonder whether you are doing more harm than good, and to celebrate the small victories that no one else notices. That perspective shapes everything she writes.
Her work has appeared in Bilingual Family Magazine, Multilingual Living, and on her popular Substack newsletter, The Gentle Bilingual, where she shares weekly essays, resource recommendations, and honest dispatches from her own kitchen table. She speaks regularly at parenting conferences and has facilitated workshops for school districts, libraries, and community organizations.
Ruby lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, with her husband, two children, and an ever growing stack of library books in three languages. She believes that every parent already has what it takes to raise an independent learner and that the best language teachers are not experts with credentials, but caregivers who show up, day after day, with patience and a willingness to be surprised.
