Dull. Dragging. The preview for the movie looked good so naturally I wanted to read the book first. It took me 5x as long for me to read as most books because I was so uninterested but, I kept hoping for a pick up. It never came. The author used too much verbage. As if he liked for us to see how well acquainted he is with the English vocabulary. Waste of my time.

This novel within a novel is very suspenseful. It wasn't what I expected in the end but it was satisfying nonetheless.

Austin Wright was born in New York in 1922. He was a novelist and academic, for many years Professor Emeritus of English at the University of Cincinnati. He lived with his wife and daughters in Cincinnati, and died in 2003 at the age of eighty.
