About this ebook

The Online University Playbook is a detailed, practical guide to How to Succeed in Online University Courses for readers who want a clear path from understanding the topic to using it confidently in real situations. The book is designed as a structured learning companion rather than a shallow overview: it introduces the core ideas, explains why they matter, then develops them through realistic examples, guided practice, scenario-based explanations, and common mistakes to avoid. Readers are taken step by step from foundational concepts into everyday applications, with each chapter building on the previous one so the material feels progressive, usable, and easy to revisit. The main areas of focus include The Online Degree Reality Check, Build Your Command Center, Decode Your Syllabus Like a Strategist, Your Winning Weekly Rhythm, The Assignment Pipeline That Ends the Midnight Panic, Why You Procrastinate and the Systems That Cure It, Active Reading for Dense Course Material, Mastering Asynchronous Lectures, Discussion Posts That Actually Raise Your Grade, The Professor Email Playbook, giving the book a concrete learning arc that moves from orientation and confidence-building to applied communication, problem solving, and independent practice. The writing style is direct, supportive, and accessible, making the book suitable for self-study, classroom reinforcement, professional development, or personal improvement. It emphasizes practical understanding over abstract theory, so readers can immediately connect the lessons to conversations, decisions, habits, and challenges they are likely to face outside the page. By the end of the book, readers should have not only a stronger grasp of the subject, but also a collection of repeatable strategies, useful language patterns, mental models, and practical routines they can continue applying after they finish reading.

About the author

Cherry Howard is an academic coach and former online program coordinator who has spent more than a decade helping adult learners complete degrees they once thought were out of reach. She earned her own bachelor's degree online while working full-time and raising a family—an experience that became the foundation for the system in this book. After completing a master's degree in education, she spent years advising hundreds of online students and watching the same preventable patterns, habits, and time traps cost them credit hours and confidence.

Howard has worked with learners at community colleges and major universities, and she has trained faculty on how to design effective online courses, giving her a rare view of both sides of the virtual classroom. She is a certified academic life coach and writes regularly about online study skills, motivation, and remote-work readiness. Her articles have appeared in education and career publications, and she speaks at conferences and workshops for nontraditional learners.

Her teaching rests on one belief: succeeding online is not about being the smartest person in the class. It is about having a system. *The Online University Playbook* is that system, built for every student who has ever logged in, felt lost, and refused to drop out. Howard lives in Austin, Texas, with her family, two rescue dogs, and a standing weekly appointment with her own calendar.
