While Gantz is one of the best manga ever made, Gantz: G is lacking in many aspects. It doesn't have the same deep character development, nor the emotional impact of the tragedies inflicted upon them. The story is as shallow as it can get, like a random Gantz mission taken out of context and artificially stretched into a full-length manga. The aliens aren't very unique or interesting, either. Add in some cheesy tropes and stereotypical character personalities and the result is a generic and predictable experience that feels empty and unrewarding.
