About this ebook
In Afterward, Edith Wharton crafts a chilling narrative where a delayed ghostly encounter uncovers a buried truth and lingering guilt. The Fulness of Life presents a woman’s posthumous reflection on a life restrained by convention, told through an introspective dialogue in the afterlife. A Venetian Night’s Entertainment unfolds in a richly described Italian setting, examining the emotional consequences of a past mistake. These three stories explore boundaries between memory and reality, morality and longing, with women’s voices central to the experience. Part 1 encapsulates Wharton’s lyrical style and psychological acuity in her early fiction.
