About this ebook

Once a derogatory label derived from the Hawaiian word for half, Hapa is now being embraced as a term of pride by many people of Asian or Pacific Rim mixed-race heritage. Award-winning film producer and artist Kip Fulbeck has created a forum in word and image for Hapas to answer the question they're nearly always asked: "What are you?" Fulbeck's frank, head-on portraits are paired with the sitters' own statements of identity. A work of intimacy, beauty, and powerful self-expression, Part Asian, 100% Hapa is the book Fulbeck says he wishes he had growing up. An introduction to the rest of the world and an affirmation for Hapas themselveswho now number in the millions—it offers a new perspective on a rapidly growing population.

You are gorgeous; I mean to die for. Don't ever let anyone isolate or snicker at you. They only wish they looked like you. You are model, actor, material. Thanks for writing, as I have two beautiful daughters who are half Japanese and half Polish/Swedish. They are dropdead gorgeous. I will get your book, Theo Kulesza

Schmaltzy and annoying. Hipsters and hippies and parents of mixed-race children who get teary-eyed at the beauty of it all will adore it, while anyone who thinks describing yourself with bad poetry is a stupid idea will probably not like this book.

Where was this book when I was a kid? I loved it. It shows all the mixes in this little world especially Asian mixes. That's me. I'm Japanese, Dutch, Portuguese, Filipino, and Mexican. I'm a Heinz 57 mut. Short, weird, short tempered, impatient, stubborn as hell, arugementive, indecisive, emotional, sensitive, kind hearted too much, always has last word, and I wouldn't change anything about me. If you don't like me for who I am, what I am, what I enjoy in my life, your loss. Not mine. Peace out Hapas out there
