About this ebook

An authentic experience. Within these pages, the narrative is punctuated by photographs taken by the author exactly when the events occurred. They are not simple illustrations, but visual fragments captured to allow you to immerse yourself fully in the atmosphere, the faces, and the places narrated, seeing the world through the same eyes as the one who was crossing it.

A journey that lasted years. Three continents. A backpack. Only one goal: to reclaim one's time.

A logbook that gathers the infinite notes collected around the world. From Southeast Asia to the silence of the Atlas peaks; from the Sahara desert to the vibrant chaos of Central America and Mexico, up to the immensity of South America. The destination? The "End of the World," that extreme tip of Patagonia where the land breaks off and gives way to the ocean.

About the author

Andrea Basile was born in Monfalcone, the city where he first developed a deep passion for discovery. His journey, marked by a constant search for new horizons, led him for many years to travel as a backpacker through Europe and his native Italy, eventually pushing far beyond the borders and literally traveling halfway around the world across all continents.

From the lands of Asia to the whole of Central America, and down to the reaches of Patagonia, Andrea has made travel his primary dimension. He currently works as a specialized technician on board ships around the globe; a professional role that allows him to continue seeing new places, from the coasts of Alaska, Canada and the Hawaiian Islands, all the way to the territories of Australia and Tasmania.

His debut work is a collection of notes and diaries that the author wrote almost daily during his years of solo travel. The writing of this book began nine years ago, moving through different emotional phases of his life in a long process of stepping away and returning to it. In the last year, the desire to close this fundamental chapter of his existence pushed him to finish the work. Although he is not a professional writer, Andrea is aware that his natural expression is the key to immersing the reader in the reality of travel, offering a raw and sincere testimony that allows one to experience the road with the same intensity with which it was traveled.

He does not consider himself a tourist, but a wanderer in search of that freedom that begins where certainties end. Fragments of the Road was born from the desire to give shape to the faces, scents, and encounters that marked his journey of human growth and his unbreakable bond with the road and life.
