About this ebook

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A gripping Jack Reacher thriller from the bestselling authors Lee Child and Andrew Child

Don’t miss the hit streaming series Reacher!

Reacher had no idea where he was. No idea how he had gotten there. But someone must have brought him. And shackled him. And whoever had done those things was going to rue the day. That was for damn sure.

Jack Reacher wakes up alone, in the dark, handcuffed to a makeshift bed. His right arm has suffered some major damage. His few possessions are gone. He has no memory of getting there.

The last thing Reacher can recall is the car he hitched a ride in getting run off the road. The driver was killed.

His captors assume Reacher was the driver’s accomplice and patch up his wounds as they plan to make him talk.

A plan that will backfire spectacularly . . .

This is the first Reacher novel I've read - and I've read them ALL - that didn't earn 5 stars. Something has changed. Maybe Lee stepped back and Andrew did this one completely on his own? Character development was off. I had to flip back and forth a few times to get the characters straight. The story seemed uneven, with some parts getting too much emphasis while other sections critical to the story zipped by quickly. It's still a captivating story, still worth buying the book, but the structure was disappointing.

When I first started reading the Reacher books, they were fresh and original, and each unique. Unfortunately, the Child brothers seem to be tired of their mainstay character, and this book is so formulaic and predictable that I would opine it may well be time for Reacher to ride off into the sunset and retire, it makes me sad to say.

I've been waiting for a new release for a few years. Finally, this. Not the usual solid plotline. I mean, waiting for days for the FBI to show up when one of their agents is reported dead. It would have been crawling with agents in a few hours. Authors need to do better.
